That's All Right

Lyric

I’ve had enough of winter covers,

It’s time to throw them off and play.

Take the first drive of the summer,

Dodge the bad light and the rain.

And if you cannot see the point here,

This is never going to pull you in.

That’s all right.

Don’t like swimming in the mainstream,

Don’t want to drown when I could watch up from the Bridge.

That’s all right. (It’s all the same to me)

I’ve got 20,000 people,

Who will stand with me and laud the fallen in.

There’s still a square of England,

That is appealing to me.

And I know Weltschmerz comes from caring,

About these things I can’t control.

Maybe there are no highest highs if,

You never get to feel the lows.

And if it’s all a bit too slow here,

If days are far too long for you to bear.

There’s still a square of England,

That doesn’t turn me…

Off and on,

Hot days in the sun,

Snakes and beer,

You can’t tell me this is not a sight to see.

You can’t tell me this is dull and drama free.

You can’t tell me this is dull and drama free.

And I can’t tell you who is winning.

You don’t really see how this could be.

That’s all right,

There were 100,000 people,

Baking in a hot December night.

Story

Another love song, again, not a typical one, this time to [specifically test] cricket.

It’s puntastic and even pulls in the odd line that has elements of Borders. Music-wise, it all fell together quickly after I bought a second hand Gretsch whose first gift was to have me playing the chord sequence to both verse and chorus.

I was reading or listening to some article about how George Harrison would sometimes start a solo with a bent note and thought, oh, I’ll have a go at that, so I did.
